HiveLog
Terms of Use
The agreement between you and HiveLog. Plain language where we can manage it.
Last updated: July 8, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and HiveLog, operated by Geoffrey Shepard ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using the HiveLog app (the "App"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. This agreement is between you and us only — not with Apple or Google.
2. About the App
HiveLog is an offline-first beekeeping inspection logbook. Your records are stored locally on your device. The App does not require an account and does not send your hive records to us or to any server.
3. License
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any device you own or control, as permitted by the applicable App Store or Google Play terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, rent, resell, or distribute the App except as expressly permitted by law.
4. Subscriptions and purchases
HiveLog Pro is available as:
- Monthly — $3.99 / month, an auto-renewable subscription.
- Annual — $24.99 / year, an auto-renewable subscription.
- Lifetime — $49.99, a one-time purchase (does not renew).
Prices may vary by region and are shown in the App before purchase. Auto-renewal: monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase and again upon each renewal. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings; canceling stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current period.
All purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies; we are not able to issue refunds directly.
Free tier: HiveLog is free to use with a limited number of active hives and all core logging features. You are never required to subscribe to keep logging inspections or to export your own data.
5. Your data
You own your records. Because they are stored locally on your device, you are responsible for backing them up — the App provides a data export for this purpose. Uninstalling the App deletes its local data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
6. Not professional advice
HiveLog is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide veterinary, agricultural, medical, or treatment advice, and it does not diagnose disease. Any numbers, thresholds, or summaries the App shows (for example, varroa mite counts) are your own records and guidance you configure. Always apply your own judgment and consult qualified professionals and your local regulations before making treatment or management decisions.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the App unlawfully, to infringe the rights of others, or to interfere with its normal operation or security.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data. Our total liability relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.
9. Apple and Google (third-party terms)
This agreement is concluded between you and us only, and not with Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or its content. Maintenance and support for the App are our responsibility, not theirs. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (where applicable); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. We — not Apple or Google — are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer-protection claims, and intellectual-property claims.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you. You must also comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement (for example, your wireless data-service terms) when using the App.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
